From Passion to Community: Lisa Gardner's 8-Year Journey in Rebounding

Rebounding is more than just a workout for me. It’s a way to connect with my body, understand the science behind movement, and build a community where everyone feels welcome. Over the past eight years, rebounding has shaped my life in ways I never expected. When I opened my studio in Ballito in 2023, I wanted to create a space where people could come together, enjoy rebounding without pressure, and feel part of something bigger. This is my story.

Discovering Rebounding and Its Science

I first tried rebounding eight years ago, curious about its benefits beyond a typical cardio workout. What drew me in was the science behind it. Rebounding uses a mini-trampoline to create low-impact, high-intensity exercise that improves lymphatic flow, balance, and cardiovascular health. The gentle up-and-down motion stimulates the lymphatic system, which is crucial for detoxification and immune support.

Understanding these benefits motivated me to dive deeper. I studied how different movements affect the body, how to tailor workouts for various fitness levels, and how to prevent injury. This knowledge gave me confidence and helped me appreciate the complexity behind what looks like simple bouncing.

Building a Studio with Heart in Ballito

When I launched my studio in Ballito in 2023, I wanted it to be more than a place to exercise. I envisioned a community hub where people could come as they are, without feeling judged or pressured. The studio quickly grew because it offered something unique: a supportive environment where instructors and members share a genuine passion for rebounding and for each other.

Our classes focus on fun and connection. We encourage everyone to listen to their bodies and progress at their own pace. The instructors are not just teachers; they are friends who celebrate every small victory. This approach has helped many people stick with rebounding long-term, improving their health and confidence.

The Role of Community in Staying Motivated

One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned is that community is key to maintaining a healthy lifestyle. When you feel part of a group, you’re more likely to show up and push yourself. At our studio, members often tell me how much they look forward to classes because of the friendships they’ve made.

Practical Tips for Anyone Interested in Rebounding

If you’re curious about rebounding, here are some tips based on my experience:

  • Start slow: Begin with basic bounces to get comfortable with the movement.

  • Focus on form: Keep your knees soft and land gently to protect your joints.

  • Listen to your body: Adjust intensity based on how you feel each day.

  • Stay consistent: Even short sessions, done regularly, can bring big benefits.

  • Join a community: Find a local studio or group to keep motivated and enjoy the social side.

Looking Ahead: Growing the Rebounding Movement

My goal is to keep expanding the community and inspire more people to discover rebounding. I want to continue sharing the science behind it and creating a welcoming space where everyone feels supported. The journey has been rewarding, and I’m excited about what’s next.
